Tomeka James is a Life and Business Coach, digital agency owner, and owner of CTJ Effective Solutions LLC, where she helps entrepreneurs create alignment between their personal lives and business goals through her signature PSO Framework — Planning, Strategizing, and Organizing.
A former international stylist and beauty industry pioneer from Northern New Jersey, Tomeka built a global reputation specializing in hair replacement, advanced styling techniques, education, and business development. Throughout her career, she traveled extensively, training thousands of beauty professionals and entrepreneurs across the United States, Canada, Paris, Haiti, Curacao, the Bahamas, and beyond.
As the former owner of Tomeka‘s Beauty in Maplewood, New Jersey, and Founder and President of the Stylist and Salon Owners Network, Tomeka dedicated her career to uniting and elevating beauty professionals through education and collaboration. She is the creator of several industry innovations, including the Detachable Sewn Weave (DSW®), Mekani Weaving Technique, Roll-N-Sew Method, and Wig Molding Process, as well as the author of Braiding Patterns for Weaving.
Tomeka also served as CEO of the Extensions Expo Show, an educational trade show focused on hair extension training, and was a former educator for Dudley’s DCU and platform artist for several major beauty brands. Her work has been featured in publications including Salon Sense MagazineStyle Q, and Hair Gallery, and she was honored with the prestigious Educator of the Year Award by Bronner Bros.
Beyond business, Tomeka is deeply committed to community impact through homeless outreach, clothing and toy drives, support for battered women’s shelters, and self-esteem initiatives for women and youth. As a motivational speaker and author of You Got Way More In You, Where Is It?, she inspires others to recognize their potential and pursue their purpose with confidence.
Today, Tomeka has transitioned from behind the chair to behind the strategy, helping entrepreneurs successfully make the leap from technician to CEO with intentional planning and execution.
